Join our team as a Kitchen Assistant/Cook in our Residential Care Home, where you will play a crucial role in providing nutritious and delicious meals to our service users. As a Kitchen Assistant/Cook, you will be responsible for preparing menus, ordering supplies, and ensuring the smooth operation of our catering service.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Service Users and manager to create menus that meet their preferences, special dietary requirements, and individual needs.

Prepare and serve meals in a timely manner, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene.

Under the supervision of the manager, order an adequate level of supplies from specified suppliers while maintaining cost control.

Implement and maintain an efficient stock control system to manage inventory effectively.

Handle kitchen equipment with care, following suppliers’ instructions and training guidelines.

Ensure all kitchen equipment is in good working order and promptly report any faults. If a machine is deemed unsafe, remove it from service immediately.

Promote and safeguard the welfare of the individuals you support.

Take responsibility for your own professional development by participating in performance and development reviews and attending relevant training opportunities.

Requirements:

Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in a care home or catering environment.

Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements, including special diets.

Excellent culinary skills with the ability to prepare and serve meals to a high standard.

Strong organisational skills to manage supplies, orders, and stock control.

Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.

Commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of our service users.

Willingness to participate in performance reviews and engage in relevant training opportunities.
